Albert Thiry (1923 - 2009) Fully marked and totally hand made ceramic jug or pitcher.
After studying the Nice Decorative Arts School, Albert Thiry continues his training as a trainee in various pottery workshops, including Charles Voltz (1923-1997).
In 1956, he starts as a decorator at Claire and René Batigne, who run the workshop of the Tapis Vert, and rubs shoulders with Marcel Vertes (1895-1961) and Anton Prinner (1902-1983) who introduces him to ceramic sculptures.
Albert Thiry ,together with his wife, Pyot Gavaudan in 1961, create their own workshop and develop a technique of stamping and scarify decoration of ceramics.
Albert Thiry is rewarded in 1971 with the diploma of honour.
Vallauris is an area near Marseille that has been making quality ceramics for many years. The area grew as a pottery centre in the late 19th century, and many companies have flourished there since then, notably those of Massier, Madoura and Foucard-Jourdan. They have a wonderful tradition of striking, modern ceramics. This is an example of one of them.
This is a large hand thrown and decorated jug fully marked on the base Thiry.
It weighs 1.43 kilos over 3lbs 2 ozs.
It is 20cm or 8 inches high and is 13cm, or 5 1/8 th inches wide.

If you live in a country that has 110V electrical supply all you need to do to convert the lights is ask an electrician to replace the bulb holders when he is fitting the lights. All the wiring is suitable for world wide use. It's that simple!
