French Antique Polished Bronze Monteith Coup de Verre Champagne Bucket Wine Cooler Very Heavy Solid Cast Polished Bronze Bowl.
A Monteith is a large basin with a notched rim on which cups or glasses can be hung, typically used as a punch bowl.
First recorded in 1675–85, named after Monteigh, a Scotsman who wore a coat or cloak with a notched or scalloped hem.
This heavy bronze bowl is perfect as a Champagne bucket or Wine cooler. It is incredibly robust and made of solid cast polished bronze.
There are signs of age and use. There is pitting in the bowl, cleaner residue in the creases, it very slightly leans, it is polished, it is in good antique condition. If left unpolished the patina will darken over time to a copper penny colour, if preferred.
It is 28.5cm across or 11 1/4 inches and is 14cm high or 5 1/2 inches. It weighs 3.63 kilos or 8 pounds.
This is incredibly unusual and rare, most Monteiths are made from ceramic, silver or tin. There are no manufacturing marks on this, it is very old and very robust, a magnificent centre piece. This was bought at a flea market in Normandy. An amazing find.

If you live in a country that has 110V electrical supply all you need to do to convert the lights is ask an electrician to replace the bulb holders when he is fitting the lights. All the wiring is suitable for world wide use. It's that simple!
