Beautiful Fives Lille Gustave de Bruyn Rare Jeanne D'Arc Pitcher or Jug with hand painted decoration, classic majolica palate and hand made and decorated majolica design. Fully marked with the Fives Lille 1838 - 1916 embossed mark on the base with SB Marque Depose.

This is one of the most beautiful designs totally hand made with an intricate design, this was made around 1870-1880.

Joan of Arc or Jeanne D'Arc the Maid of Orleans is a patron saint of France. She is considered a heroine of France after her leadership during the 100 years war with England and her subsequent burning at the stake by the English.

Antoine Gustave De Bruyn founded this factory in 1864 and went on to produce the some of the most beautiful and sought after majolica items, this majolica or barbotine pitcher is especially desirable.

It is just over 6 inches high, 15.5 cms and weighs 498 grams about 1 lb 1 ozs.

There are some wear on the base. The interior and exterior has crazing. There is crazing on the surface. There are no cracks or chips on the body of the Jug or Pitcher. It is in remarkable condition.
