Beautiful large silver plate bowl with maker's mark, Made by Gallia between 1908 and 1929 it has the heritage and design associated with this premier maker.
There are surface scratches, some pin dents and signs of wear and use. This has been used on an everyday basis for many years.
Gallia metal is the brand name of a copper and tin alloy patented by Felix Cheron in 1896, he retired in 1902 as the head of Alfenide Gallia and the company was subsequently bought by Christofle. Good heritage!
It weighs 850 grams about 1lb 14 ozs and it is 30cm long about 11 3/4 inches and 22 cms wide just over 8 1/2 inches and is 4.5cm high about 1 3/4 inches. It is 37.5cm across or 14 3/4 inches from handle to handle.
