Founded in 1880 by the merger of two existing German companies, the WARTTEMBERGISCHE METALWARENFABRIK or WMF was, around 1900, the world's largest producer and exporter of household metalware.

It was the aim as a company, through its use of the methods of production, to make artistically designed, contemporary objects of daily use. This wonderful set of knife rests is one of those items.

There are surface scratches and signs of wear. They are unboxed.

It is an incredibly stylish set of flatware fully marked with WMF
